Abstract:
The study main objective was to determine the effect of force account procurement on value for money achievement in construction projects; the case of Dodoma City Council. A cross-sectional research design was employed whereby; structured questionnaire, documentary review and interview methods were used to collect data from the sample size of 68 respondents. Content analysis was used to analyse qualitative data, while multiple regression was used to analyse quantitative data. The findings of the study revealed that force account procedures (β = 0.136) and compliance to force account requirements (β = 0.091) leads to the completion of construction projects in time and at lower costs. The study concludes that force account procurement in construction projects in the public sector leads to value for money achievement. It recommends that public institutions should consider using force account procurement to minimize costs in construction projects.
