The Influence of Supply Chain Practices on Health Service Delivery Under the National Health Insurance Fund Scheme in Selected Hospitals in Dodoma City.

Abstract

The study aimed to examine the influence of supply chain practices (process integration, agile practices, and strategic partnerships) on health service delivery under the NHIF scheme in selected hospitals in Dodoma City. The research utilized a cross-sectional research design, enabling the collection of data from a sample size of 128 respondents from a total population of about 189 from selected hospitals in Dodoma. Data analysis was carried out employing descriptive statistics and multiple regression techniques. Data collection was accomplished through a combination of questionnaire surveys and interviews. The study adopted purposive (non-probability) sampling and simple random sampling methodologies for participant selection. Notably, process integration practices emerged as a significant predictor of enhanced health service delivery. The incorporation of integrated pathways within the supply chain was found to play a pivotal role in maintaining a streamlined and efficient patient journey from admission to treatment and follow-up care. Furthermore, agile supply chain practices exhibited a noteworthy influence on health service delivery. The provision of quick medical assistance emerged as a critical factor, highlighting the importance of rapid response times in addressing patient needs. Strategic partnership practices also emerged as a significant predictor of health service delivery. The establishment of trust and effective communication between different departments or partners positively impacted patient care. The study recommends government entities catalyze strategic collaborations among healthcare institutions, ensuring the alignment of efforts and goals in delivering superior patient care.
