Abstract

The study aimed to explore the relationship between work-life balance and employees' job performance in the Tanzania Local Government Authority (LGA), with a focus on the Chamwino District.Questionnaires and interview methods were used to collect data from respondents. Sampling techniques used in this study were simple random sampling and purposive sampling techniques while analysis of the quantitative data was undertaken by using multiple regression analysis to determine the relationship between independent and dependent variables while content analysis was used to analyze qualitative data. The study findings show that flexible work practices, leave policies, and welfare policies havea significant relationshipwith employee performance at Chamwino DC, where flexible work practices negatively contribute to employee performance. Furthermore, the study revealedthat social welfare policies are not provided accordingly at Chamwino DC. This includes a lack of employee houses, poor working conditions, and poor working facilities in some remote areas. The study concludes that, for the performance of the employees to be improved, social welfare should be provided accordingly, annual leave should be compulsory, and flexible work practices should not be entertained until a supportive environment is set in place.
