Influence of Integrated Financial Management Information Systems on Service Delivery in Higher Education Institutions.

Abstract

This study examined the influence of integrated financial management information system on service delivery in higher education institutions. The study was guided by three (3) specific objectives which sought to; determine influence of planning and budgeting on service delivery in higher education institutions., to analyse the influence of revenue collection and payments on service delivery in higher education institutions and to examine the influence of financial recording and reporting on service delivery in higher education institutions. Sample size for this study comprised 174 respondents including 166 students and 8 staff. Questionnaire and interview methods were used to collect data. Descriptive and inferential statistics methods were used to analyse study data. The study findings revealed that planning and budgeting, revenue collections and payments as well as financial recording and reporting positively and significantly influence service delivery in higher education institutions. The study concluded that effective planning and budgeting, efficiency in revenue collection and payments as well as efficiency in financial recording and reporting are cornerstones towards service delivery in higher education institutions. The study thus recommends that Continuous capacity building programmes should be conducted for users of integrated financial management information systems so as to enhance their hands-on skills in the utilization of respective HMIS so as to effectively
