Assessing the Effectiveness of NHIF Strategies on Improving Children’s Health Status in Tanzania: A Case of Dodoma City

Abstract

This Study aims to assess the effectiveness of the National Health Insurance Fund strategies in improving the health status of children in Tanzania. The research evaluates how National Health Insurance Fund initiatives such as expanding health coverage, increasing access to essential health services and promoting equity in healthcare have impacted child health outcomes. Using both qualitative and quantitative methods including surveys, interviews, analysis of health data, the study examines trends in child morbidity, mortality, and access to care. Findings indicate that National Health Insurance Fund strategies have contributed to significant improvements in children’s health, particularly in low income and rural communities. However, challenges such as awareness, infrastructure gaps and financial constraints still hinder full effectiveness. The Study recommends strengthening outreach programs, improving service delivery, and increasing enrolment among vulnerable populations to maximize impact.
