Risk Mitigation Strategies on Procurement Performance of Medical Store Department (Msd).

Abstract

This study utilized multiple linear regression analysis to investigate the significant relationship between risk mitigation strategies, specifically risk-based audit strategy, supplier management strategy and strategic partnership and procurement performance at the Medical Store Department (MSD) headquarters in Dar es Salaam. The study was guided by contingency theory and risk management theory and it employed a cross-sectional research design with a sample size of 106 respondents. The data were collected through a questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS version 25. Findings show that a risk-based audit strategy has a strong and positive significant influence on procurement performance with a significant value of 0.000 (P<0.05). Also with regard to the second objective, the findings show that supplier management strategy has a strong and positive significant influence on procurement performance with a significant value of 0.000 (P<0.05). Finally, the third objective findings revealed that strategic partnership has a strong and positive significant influence on procurement performance with a significant value of P =0.001 (P<0.05). The study concluded that risk-based audit strategy, supplier management strategy and strategic partnership had a very strong relationship with procurement efficiency, with an R-value of 0.928 and adjusted R-squared value (R2) of 0.861. The study recommended that policymakers should set a greater emphasis on implementing procurement policies, procedures and standards. Public organizations must ensure training is provided to all staff responsible for routine procurement activities to minimize operational risks and improve procurement performance.
