The Contribution of Force Account on The Performance of Procurement of Works in Bahi District of Dodoma, Tanzania.

Abstract

This study assessed the contribution of Force account on the performance of procurement of works in Bahi district - Tanzania. The study employed the cross-sectional design in carrying out the research and a sample size of 92 was selected using a stratified sampling procedure. Data were collected using both questionnaires and interviews and analyzed using qualitative content analysis and quantitative statistical techniques. This comprehensive study employed a methodological blend of qualitative and quantitative approaches. This study unveils a strong understanding of the compliance of procurement laws and guidelines and shows that the majority of the staff possess a comprehensive understanding of laws and implies compliance. Training emerged as a critical factor, positively influencing the performance of procurement of works while technical staff levels did not demonstrate a direct influence on the performance of procurement of works. Professionalism exhibited a strong and positive influence on procurement performance. Proper financial resource allocation, capacity building and delegation of decision-making showed a significant positive influence on procurement performance. These findings hold valuable implications for policymakers, administrators, and stakeholders in their pursuit of refining procurement processes and enhancing overall performance in public works projects.
