Abstract

This study was carried out to enhance members’ data collection process using a portable mobile device at the National Social Security Fund (NSSF). The specific objectives were to examine the capability of portable mobile devices on data collection processes, to compare and contrast types of mobile devices used for data collection and to propose the appropriate mobile device-based solution for enhanced member data collection. The sample size was 145 respondents whereas a purposive sampling technique was used. Descriptive analysis was used for data analysis. Findings indicated that the cost of portable mobile data collection devices was fair and affordable by NSSF and that data collection process efficiency will be enhanced as well. Furthermore, findings indicated that portable mobile data collection devices were easily accessed. The study concludes that portable mobile devices are effective in collecting, retrieving and saving member’s data at the Fund. It is recommended that there should be an adoption of system portals for better results.
