Implementation of Information Systems Security Measures at the College of Business Education (CBE) in Tanzania.

Abstract

This study aimed at assessing the implementation of information security measures at the College of Business Education (CBE) - Tanzania. This study employed descriptive research design and mixed methods approaches to achieve study objectives. While the College of Business Education consists four campus, this study was conducted at Dar es Salaam main campus. Questionnaires were distributed to a randomly selected sample of 136 employees of the college. Interview guide involved 6 employees purposely selected to gather in-depth information in order to add insight on the quantitative findings Descriptive statistics was employed in the analysis of data using SPSS. Chi-Square Test and Correlation analysis were used to determine association and nature of relationship between variables respectively. Reliability tests were performed under Cronbach’s alpha on each variable to determine their internal consistency. Questionnaire were pre-tested through small sample (10) of staff with similar qualities to determine the degree of accuracy to meet the study objectives. Respondents’ informed consent was ensured as respondents were informed about the research topic in hand with the purpose of the study and requesting for their voluntary response. Moreover, literatures referred in this study were acknowledged. The study established that the level of implementation of information security measures was moderate, experienced variety challenges and positively correlates with the level of awareness of information security measures. Based on conclusions, the study recommends that investments should be made in improving information security management.
