Abstract

This study explores the barriers to technology adoption faced by Tanzanian Businesses. Through empirical and comparative analysis, a comprehensive review of literature published from 2017 to 2022 has been conducted. The objective was to identify and analyze challenges encountered by Tanzanian businesses in adopting technology, aiming at generating valuable insights and suggest strategies and interventions for successful technology integration. The study revealed that Tanzanian businesses encounter several obstacles hindering the adoption of technology. These obstacles include limited accessibility to affordable and reliable infrastructure, insufficient technical skills and digital literacy among employees, financial constraints, and organizational resistance to change. Furthermore, unique cultural and contextual factors in the Tanzanian business environment contributed to such challenges. By synthesizing the findings from various studies, this research adds to the existing literature on technology adoption in developing countries and provides valuable insights to businesses and policymakers on making informed decisions as well as adopting strategies in matters relating to technology for the purpose of enhancing and driving digital transformation.
