Abstract
Ever growing trend in terms of user demands, business complexity, new applications and services in higher learning institutions calls for businesses and service providers to offer remote working options that are affordable and flexible. This, in turn, necessitates extensive use of personal laptops and mobile devices for academic and other business purposes and the use of cloud technology for data access. Enterprise mobility is a commonly used approach to work in which students and employees can do their jobs from anywhere using a variety of devices and applications. Enterprise mobility, specifically, involves the use of mobile devices, wireless networks, and other mobile computing services in a business context. There are, are however, several risks and challenges facing Enterprise mobility management some of which are posed by device diversity, some by data breach, some by the age of devices, some by hyper connectivity and some by malicious Apps just to mentions a few. Qualitative approach was adopted in
collecting primary data on risks and challenges involved in enterprise mobility management. This study aims at investigating the intricacies of managing Enterprise Mobility in Higher Learning in Institutions in Tanzania. Findings from this study will help higher learning institutions in identifying the drivers for mobility and benefits in its adoption, illustrating the success of mobility strategy, revealing key challenges to implementation, and providing a framework for creating their own mobility strategy.
