The Role of Trust among Different Employee Groups in Work Organizations, 2020.

Abstract

In an increasingly volatile labour market, organizations must find ways to regain employees’ trust to retain them. This study uses data from 212 employees from the Tanzania Revenue ity (TRA) in Tanzania to examine the effect of perceived organizational justice and level of trust on job satisfaction across different groups of employees by gender and tenure. We proposed that level of trust would mediate the impact of organizational justice on job satisfaction among all employees and within employee sub-groups categorized by gender and tenure. We then support the hypotheses by using structural equation modelling (SEM). The findings highlight the importance of trust in the organization but within groups, the effect is more profound in female than male employees and more on employees who have few years of experience than those who have more years of experience at work. Implications of the findings are discussed.
