Towards Inclusive Economic Growth for Sustainable Development: The Role of Rural Roads Infrastructure in Tanzania

Abstract

More often, their population living in remote areas suffers poverty due to lack of accessibility to the point of exchanges of services and goods. In rural areas, they produce, but they cannot access markets due to poor infrastructure. In most cases, they face difficulty to access social services such as legal and health services. Thus, thinking for improving the rural infrastructure that connects rural areas to districts and regional roads paves the way to subtle inclusive growth and sustainable development in Tanzania. The objective of this paper is to describe the role of rural roads infrastructure towards inclusive economic growth for sustainable development. Further, the paper describes the evolution of the concepts of inclusive growth and sustainable development. Also, it provides empirical evidences about the contribution of rural roads to inclusive economic growth and inclusive development. Finally, it discusses the importance of rural roads onto accessibility of markets, and its impact on Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and socio- political stability and its challenges.
