The Influence of Rural Electrification on Household Income Generation in Chamwino District, Tanzania.

Abstract

This study specifically addressed the influence of rural electrification on household income generation in Chamwino District, Tanzania. This study specifically addressed the aspect rural electrification facilitate household income generation in Chamwino District. This study employed cross sectional design to collect information at once from different respondents. The sample size was 95 respondents, in which questionnaire administered to the household and interview was held to the key informants. The findings showed that rural electrification promoted cheap energy accessibility for business activities, cost reduction in accessing energy, facilitate service provision, income generating activities access reliable source of electricity, income generating activities managed to expand as a result of rural electrification and promote cost effective service. This study recommends that Ministry of Energy in Tanzania, have to improve rural electrification at affordable cost for the purpose of improving household income generation. TANESCO at Chamwino district has to improve rural electrification for increased accessibility of electricity.
