Abstract
The study aimed at assessing the challenges affecting the implementation of occupational health and safety practices in the wine industry in Dodoma Region. The study adopted a cross-sectional research design. It used a sample size of 80 respondents applying both probability and non- probability sampling procedure in selecting the sample. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews and documentary reviews and were analyzed by using descriptive statistics and content analysis methods. The study findings have revealed that; the challenges affecting the implementation of occupational health and safety practices include; high cost of safety equipment; high costs of training and failure to involve employees in the implementation process. The study concludes that; challenges that cause difficulties in complying with the occupational health and safety laws are; complex government policies, high cost of occupational health and safety equipment; high costs of conducting training to the employees as well as a rapid technology change. The study recommends that the government should amend the occupational health and safety laws to make them clear to all stakeholders.
