Challenges of Entrepreneurs Engaged to Trade Internationally: A Case of Dodoma City, 2020.

Abstract

This study assessed the challenges of entrepreneurs engaged to trade internationally, a case of Dodoma City. Both qualitative and quantitative methods were utilized, this study applied descriptive research design; tools were interviews, questionnaire, focus group discussion and documentary review. Also, the study revealed that most of the entrepreneurs claim to have no education in international trade, furthermore did not get any entrepreneurship training. Products they sell are of very low quality. Additionally, many of the respondents complain that the interest charged by the bank is extremely high, while the repayment period is shorter that is why they fail to do business internationally. The study recommends that the ministry of industry and commerce should develop policies and laws that will enable entrepreneurs to trade internationally. Furthermore, the government should identify entrepreneurial challenges and solve them so that they can trade internationally successfully, establish entrepreneurial progrprogrammes on capacity building to entrepreneurs and promote management skills among them.
