Factors Affecting the Performance of Procurement Process in Cooperative Union in Tabora: Case of Selected Cooperative Unions in Tabora.

Abstract

The study examined the factors affecting the performance of procurement process in the cooperative unions in Tabora Region, Tanzania. The study dwells purposive sampling has been deployed in the research. The study has covered population sample of one hundreds sample size, among them it is about eighty respondents from the 50 cooperative union’s managers, 10 suppliers and 40 board members in Tabora, Tanzania who enhanced the study to come up with the results. Also study focused on the methodology. These methodologies included the study's area, design, population, and sample techniques, as well as the instrument and method used for data collecting. As a result of the volume of work that has to be done and resources to be utilized, there is the need to adopt best practices and strategies to ensure efficiency and quality delivery of service. In conclusion, the study suggested that procurement strategy was a critical factor that positively affects performance of procurement processes in cooperative Union in Tanzania. The study recommends that cooperative sub sector must strive to improve on its administrative role of monitoring the various cooperative societies to ensure proper Procurement Strategies and Contract Management Practices are always adhered to, so that there will be value for money in cooperative union Procurement Process.
