Abstract
The study was carried out to assess the effect of allocated funds on humanitarian supply chain practices in managing flood in Ilala Municipal- Dar es Salaam. The study used a cross-sectional research Semi-structured questionnaire was used to collect data from 89 respondents who were
randomly selected. Multiple liner regression as an econometric model was used to estimate the effect of government humanitarian supply chain practices in managing floods. The findings show that good practice of budget planning and presence of good rationale for allocation of fund has
positive significant (p < 0.05) impact on managing flood. The study concludes that more than half of the participants affirm that proactive practice is essential in managing the disaster. Whereas, through funds allocation and availability of disaster management guidelines, monitoring and implementation help to control and minimize the magnitude of the disaster, particularly floods. The study recommends that timely fund allocation is essential for disaster preparedness. Therefore, for successful disaster management particularly flood which is common in most of communities in Tanzania the Ministry of Planning and Finance should ensure that there is sufficient budget to support humanitarian supply chain practices.
