Abstract
This paper establishes a serious bond between trade and industrial development by showing how small and medium-sized enterprises can vastly transform manufactures industry in the country for a desired industrial economy in the future. The study aimed at examining a policy gap between SME’s and the industrial sector in the country by reviewing several policies existing as the main guideline and regulatory framework for national development. The study review climaxes the difficulty encountered by SME’s which paused by the existing policies. Additionally, this paper addresses the roles of SMEs in sustaining industrialization increases. Due to international trade competition; Tanzania has to frequently review its trade and industrial policy to ensure the survival of domestic trade and export-led. The study reveals that the policies do not grant a total engagement of SMEs in industrial development strategies. Lastly, this paper recommends some of the measures to be seriously taken to fasten the growth rate of SMEs towards an industrial economy in Tanzania.
