Abstract

Leadership style is one of the factors that play a significant role in enhancing or retarding the interest and commitment of the individuals in the negotiations. If a leader wants to perform well on the described time, the leadership style of administrating and supervising will be a question of importance. Thus, leading and negotiating organizational objective is a subject on which leadership style is in use. The extent of performing well during negotiation depending on how well the leaders understand and adopt an appropriate leadership style. This paper aims to provide empirical evidence of links between a range of leadership style and negotiations process. The paper has used primary data to gauge the leader’s opinion on leadership’s style. The data are drawn from a survey of Tanzania public and private negotiators and other officials and analyzed by using multivariate analysis, particularly exploratory factor analysis. The results also suggest that there is a great need for leaders to increase their competence as well as changing the followers' mindset towards them. In conclusion, it suggested that a leader has to adapt leadership style which will yield confidence, effectiveness, influence, competence and power during negotiation as in the negotiation process.
