Abstract
This study assessed the effect of improved urban road network on performance of small and medium enterprises in Dodoma city. Specific objective of the study were to: determine the influence of improved urban road network on financial performance of SMEs in Dodoma City. The study employed a cross sectional research design where by a sample of 89 SMEs from selected three wards. Data collection methods included questionnaire and documentary review. Qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis while and quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis. The findings revealed that, accessible roads to customers, market accessibility, time management and improved
transportation of goods and services were positive and significant related to sales revenue. The study concludes that, improved urban road network contributed to performance of small and medium enterprises in Dodoma city by increase sales volumes, The study recommended that the
government should continue to improve urban road networks and start offering basic business and financial management skills as it would enable SMEs to make informed investment decisions as well as enhance their entrepreneurial skills that enable them to recognize and exploit the available business opportunities.
